League
The Coloplast league supported by Sportsmatch has grown the sport from 6 teams in the UK in 2006 to 8 teams today based in London,Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Newcastle, Cardiff, Ireland , Scotland and North Wales .
Our sport creates a supportive and fun environment for wheelchair users and volunteers to socialise at local club level and for some represent Great Britian at elite level. It also gives players the confidence to lead much more independent lives and realise their full potential.
THE FUTURE
Despite being ranked at Elite level 1st in Europe our goal in the UK is to rival some of our European counterparts like Germany who have over 30 teams. To do this we need to create a well-structured army of volunteers to target the length and breadth of the country.
WHY WE NEED YOU
Ultimately we want to attract more players into the sport so that more people can benefit. Traditionally most players have been men with spinal cord injuries but we recognise the importance of attracting even more women and people with a different range of disabilities into the game.
We are equally keen to attract a host of volunteers and health profesionals with sporting interests without whom our game could not be played.
In return we can provide a access to a stimulating and world class sport with training and development pathways for progression for volunteers to become officials, referees, mechanics, organisers or highly valued and prized general volunteers.
Our game would not be a game without spectators therefore supporters are assured of a warm welcome at any event, so if in doubt just come along.
